The main reason for our trip to New Orleans was for a wedding of a close friend of mine. I was so excited to be there and share in her day. After moving to New York, I was on a trip in Trinidad with a few of my girlfriends from Miami and I met her at a party down there. I found out that she lived in New York which was a great surprise to me since I moved to NY not having many close girlfriends here. As soon as we were both back in town, we met up and she has been such a good friend to me ever since. I have such great friends that I grew up with but when you find yourself in a new place, its really important to also find those you connect with and can lean on. I truly found that in my friend Selam! We got engaged within months of each other and got married in the same year….I can’t wait for us to share in more of our life experiences to come.
I wore this navy blue Tahari dress that I bought back in November with this wedding in mind. It is simple but elegant. I love the color and it fits like a glove, maybe a bit too well. It is also very comfortable which allows me to hit up the dance floor all night. I love to dance and you can be sure to find me on the dance floor! That is also why it is equally important for my shoes to be just as comfortable. I paired this dress with black studded Brian Atwood heels that offer just the right height and amount of support. If I can’t dance in them, I won’t buy them!
