What I Wore to Swimsuit Boat Party

I am so sorry for such a huge delay in my posting!  I went down to Trinidad for vacation and as soon as I got back into town, I got sick and was at the end of my busy period at work.  But I am finally feeling better and we have completed our year end process at work.  Unfortunately, the busy period is going to start for the 1st Quarter very soon but in the mean time, I plan to get back on track with my blogging and pray for spring weather to come as quickly as possible!
I went to Trinidad for the yearly Carnival that takes place every Monday and Tuesday preceding Ash Wednesday.  This is similar to the Carnival in Brazil but people from all over are able to take part in the parade itself.  Tens of thousands of costumed revelers take to the streets of the capital, Port of Spain, decked out in elaborate costumes wining (gyration of the hips) to soca and calypso music.  Even before the parade, starting from the day after Christmas, parties or “fetes” take place almost everyday until Carnival Monday.  It is the greatest party on Earth!
One such party that led up to the grand celebration was named “Suits”.  This was a morning boat ride with music and drinks at 7am!  Everyone comes out in their cutest bathing suit, hence the name, and brings a cooler with their favorite “beverage”  I had so much fun starting my vacation with friends and family on a sunny day out in the Caribbean Sea dancing for hours.
I picked up this red one-piece while in Miami for Christmas.  I stopped at the Shops at the Falls and went into Swim ‘n Sport where I found a large selection of bathing suits and coverups.  They have such a wide selection of colors and styles at reasonable prices.  I tried on a few but was drawn to the color of this one.  Also, I’ve been wanting a one-piece and thought this would be the best time to wear one.  The cut was very flattering and I found this kimono that matched it perfectly.  Since I was going to be doing a lot of dancing, I sewed a tiny button at the bottom to keep it closed while on the boat.  The gold statement necklace and cuff finally completed the outfit and I was on my way to do some “wining”!
