Take the day off…when Chloé is also off from school. Why have her sit on the couch while I work from home, let’s make a day out of it. We headed down to Key Largo on Sunday and got two full days because of her day off on Monday. It wasn’t crowded, hotels were cheaper on a Sunday night and we had such a great time. We all deserve some time away! I’m already looking to see what her next day off will be!

For a weekend treat or just because, @MyMenchies is a great way to enjoy frozen yogurt. There are so many flavors to choose from including nonfat, gluten free and no sugar added options. The best part is the self-serve where you can fill your cup with all the flavors & toppings your heart desires. This is great for my girls to make their own dessert just how they want it. I’m a chocolate sprinkles kind of girl myself.

I EMPOWER MY GIRLS BY…

Letting them make their own clothing choices. For a while now, Chloé has not been interested in wearing dresses and for the longest time, I still wanted her too. I thought for certain occasions she needed to “dress up” and then a fight would ensue. I realized that there are so many other ways to “dress up” other than wearing a dress. I feel awful about the struggles I once created over clothing.

More importantly, I want my girls to be comfortable in whatever they choose to wear. They both take pride in what they wear and each of them has a style of their own. I encourage them to wear what makes them feel good, what they like and make sure they don’t feel any pressure to look or dress a certain way. I grew up being told we weren’t going out with me “looking like that”. Certain rules had to be followed and I remember hating the outfits I was told to wear. I am changing that narrative and while I’m all about appropriate attire, I know there are many styles and variations to chose from and it’s their choice! I help them by showing them options for home and for going out and they love it! Their happiness is what’s the most important.

WHY I AM MORE CONFIDENT IN MY 40’S THAN EVER BEFORE…

Because I learned to love myself unconditionally. As a child, I was extremely shy and insecure. Then I moved away to college and really started to feel good about myself but I still had tons of insecurities. Now, today, I love myself completely, mom pooch and all. I am in my 40’s with young children so my patience wears thin and the grays have come in but I feel better about myself now than the party hopping, string bikini wearing girl in her 20’s. I like the person I see in the mirror, her whole self, inside and out. Besides, I have two little girls looking up to me and I want to be the best role model I can be! Getting older doesn’t mean we lose ourselves and have to dress or act a certain way. We know ourselves more and this is actually the time to fully embrace and love ourselves. Confidence knows no age! Wear the crop top!!!!
