How We Enjoyed the Holidays in NYC with Kids

One of the things I do like about New York is how festive it is for the Holidays.  Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love how you can find great large decorated trees in every building in midtown, and holiday windows all down Fifth Avenue. Each neighborhood is lit with decor and you can feel the Christmas spirit in the air. I had such a great time taking the girls out and enjoying these with them. Chloe is already in the holiday spirit and is always singing Christmas songs.  Watching her on Christmas morning was magical! These are all the places we enjoyed the holiday season in New York City with kids.

The Time Shop – This pop up in Soho is a space created for families to spend time together. Its a journey filled with Snowmen, Story Time, and Play time. At the end, calligraphers helped us to customize a gift of time to someone special.

Christmas Markets – There are holiday markets throughout New York, from Union Square Holiday Markets, to Chelsea, to Winter Village at Bryant Park. At each one, you will find great vendors and delicious sweets to eat. We found handmade ornaments and enjoyed hot cocoa.

Macy’s Santaland – the eighth floor of Macy’s in Herald Square transforms into a winter village with Santa’s workshop. Its filled with toys, lights and decked out with Christmas trees. Christmas isn’t complete without a visit with Santa.

Ice Skating at Brookfield Place – This mall has a waterfront ice skating rink to take the kids after a day of shopping.

Holiday Windows – You can’t visit New York without strolling down Fifth Avenue to see the festive holiday displays in the storefront windows. This is a time honored tradition and you have to stop at Bergdorfs and Saks, then head over to Macy’s and Bloomingdales.

The Nutcracker – This is a classic holiday ballet experience and there are a number of interpretations throughout the city of New York. There was also a show in Queens where kids were able to visit Santa’s Toyland along with a performance of this ballet.

Hope you enjoyed the holidays wherever you are!
