Crochet dresses are delicate and intricate. There is a special beauty about them knowing that this is a pattern that someone could recreate by hand. My love for crochet comes from my favorite aunt of mine when I was young.
She taught me at a very young age but unfortunately, I did not stick with it. Today, I am still at the beginner level. I always think that if I had tried to learn more and kept practicing, I might have been able to make this dress myself…oh well, I guess not. I do love the craft though and I will just have to stick with simple blankets and scarves.
This dress is one of my favorites because of the crochet pattern and because of its versatility. I bought and wore this while I was 7 months pregnant. This is not a maternity dress, I just purchased one size up. I wore this for my family baby shower in New York. It fit comfortably over my baby bump and elongated my legs with its see through pattern. I wore gold high heels with it to keep it from touching the floor, I am a shorty after all. Now, fast forward a year later and I am still wearing this dress.
When I was pregnant, it was important to buy pieces that I would be able to still wear after I gave birth. Versatility and budget conscious go hand in hand to me. Even though I wore this last year, it felt like a brand new dress. I tied a belt around the waist and paired it with summer wedges. It still fit me well and hugged my shape nicely. I wore this to weekend brunch as well as to the office for summer Friday’s. Restyling maternity outfits can be easy and a great way to get more use out of the items in your closet.
