Enjoying Maternity Leave in Miami

I am spending the last two months of my maternity leave in Miami and one month has already flown by.  I am so happy to be down here in this warmth with all my
friends and family.  My husband, Ricardo, was here with us for the first two weeks but had to return to work.  While he was here, we were able to do so much.  Depending on your maternity leave policy, I highly recommend traveling while on leave.  It may sound daunting to travel with a baby or two at that, but it is possible.  Even after my husband headed back, I made it work with my two girls.  I have so many great people that have stepped in and helped out so that we are able to enjoy our time here.

In the first week here in south Florida, I went kayaking with my best friend in the intercoastal waterways.  That was such a beautiful experience.  The water was calm, the sun was shining and I felt so relaxed.  I love the water and I love it more when it is warm water.  A few days later, I was taken to see the play Hamilton for my birthday.  It lived up to the hype and was astonishing.  The cast is so talented and I am so pleased to have seen it.

The second weekend here in Miami was my birthday weekend and I threw my 40th birthday party down here.  It was perfect, I had all my close friends and family in one place to celebrate with.  It was pink and gold themed and everyone came dressed in their best pink or gold.  Everyone looked amazing and we danced and ate all night!  It was so good to see everyone again.  It’s hard to always see all my friends when I am in town so I am very grateful that everyone was able to make it and party with me.

During the next week, I enjoyed the Fountainblea pool with the girls.  They have a great kids pool that is four feet at the deepest point.  Also, we headed to the Hard Rock with my brother to see the comedian Russell Peters perform.  During the weekend, we brunches at Yardbird and hung out in Wynwood.

Unfortunately Ricardo had to head back to New York after two weeks for work but that didn’t stop me from making the most out of our time here.  My parents have spent so much time with the kids, taking them outside and playing different games with Chloe.  She is constantly trying to go int eh pool so we have to keep a close eye on her.  I headed to the pool at the Diplomat hotel in Hollywood, Florida.  My girlfriends are amazing and were so helpful with the girls.  One close friend has two older sons who served as babysitters the entire day and they did such a great job at it.    On the following Saturday, I went to Dessert Wars.  I definitely ate more sweets in that two hour window that I needed to.  My close friend Matt accompanied me and “Uncle Matt” was great help with the girls.  I finished off the week spending it with close friends catching up and watching our kids play together.  I am so lucky to have such great people in my life that have made my time and the girls time here memorable.  Chloé is getting to spend quality time with her Aunts and Uncles and Grandparents and really enjoying herself here.  It makes all the travel and lugging of all the baby items worth it!
