Astoria is constantly growing and redefining itself. One restaurant that is growing along with it is Sac’s Place, located at 2541 Broadway, on the corner of Broadway and 29th Street. This restaurant has been in Astoria since 1989 serving quality Italian cuisine and coal-oven pizzas. The owners, Anthony and Domenico Sacramone, are Astoria natives and have watched the neighborhood evolve and has had their restaurant remain a stronghold in the community. I have ordered their pizzas many times and they never disappoint. So when I heard they were creating a new brunch menu inspired by their pizzas, I was thrilled. I had the pleasure of tasting a few of the items that will be on their new menu and I can’t wait to go back for more.
Sac’s Place will start serving brunch this weekend and will feature their breakfast pizzas. There is the Porky Pig pizza that has mozzarella cheese, bacon, sausage and pepperoni for the meat lovers and there is the Veggie which is topped with fontina cheese, sautéed artichokes, mushrooms and roasted tomatoes. The Veggie was my personal favorite! All of the breakfast pizzas had their own delicious taste and are never greasy. The staff is so friendly and they spent the time explaining that most of their ingredients are fresh from a family farm in Pennsylvania. Fresh ingredients make these top notch pizzas. Make sure to head out there this weekend for their brunch special which includes one brunch entree, coffee or tea, home fries, and one cocktail with a refill all for $17.95. I love a good deal when I find one and this neighborhood gem is here to stay!!!
